Houston County GA – Code Red System

Houston County GA uses the Code Red System to send weather warnings, missing child alerts, and other critical communications to residents.  As a free service, residents can request automated tornado, flash flood, and severe weather warnings via your home or mobile phone by filling out a Houston County GA Code Red online application.

Houston County GA Weather RadioAlso, Houston County GA residents can get a $15 discount on a Midland WR-100 Weather Radio by completing a Houston County GA Weather Radio voucher and forwarding it to the Houston County Commissioners Office  (or the Emergency Management Office).  Once residency is verified, a voucher will be mailed to you that can be redeemed at any Kroger store in the county.  The radios retail for around $30, so the vouchers provide 50% savings.

The weather radio has an alert system (loud tone/LED indicator w/alert message) that provides alerts on tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, ice/snow storms, and other severe weather.  Also, it provides amber, hazardous explosions, fires, chemical spills, and other civil emergency information.  Alerts/bulletins from the National Weather Service are sent moments after issued which could make all the difference your family needs to to find suitable shelter or evacuation to safety.
