The elevator door shuts and I have 30 seconds to WOW a potential client or risk losing them forever…it is showtime!

Pupils enlarge, palms go moist, cotton mouth starts to develop, mind begins to race, hands get fidgety

Should I break out with my best rendition of Aerosmith’s “Love in an Elevator”? Being happily married and unable to carry a tune this choice is gone before the thought takes hold

Performing slight of hand tricks, throwing my voice, or doing cartwheels (we are in an elevator, remember) probably won’t work

I can baffle them with real estate jargon or name drop the alphabet soup designations after my name, but decide against both

I can impress with my best southern belle routine, curse like a sailor, or tell a tall tale to win their adoration and business

Staring, ignoring, being overbearing, giggling at nothing, and talking to myself (answering too) all seem futile as well
