Do you have hardwood flooring under your carpeting?
If you are selling your Warner Robins home, is it better to refinish the hardwood or is it better to recarpet? Do you have hardwood floors underneath your carpet? Consider yourself lucky as you have options and may be able to improve the value of your Warner Robins home and save money at the same time!
Most home owners in Warner Robins prefer hardwood flooring – it looks nicer, it improves your home’s value, it lasts longer and it’s easier to clean. And, any real estate agentwill tell you that homes with hardwood flooring will sell faster and at a higher price.
What seems to be an additional pleasant surprise to most people is that it usually costs less to refinish your hardwood floors than to recarpet them. Refinishing hardwood is often less expensive than most people think and also, you are working with an asset you already have – hardwood floors. Contrast that to buying new carpet…where you need to purchase the materials plus take care of the labor. Pending on the quality of the carpet, that price can often be a lot higher, especially with gas prices increasing (carpet is petroleum based).
Hardwood flooring is usually easier to maintain and less expensive to maintain. Hardwood can really last for hundreds of years (in fact, I’ve refinished floors that were made in th 18th and 19th century). Carpeting is, on average, replaced every 5-7 yrs. Usually, it’s replaced far before the warranty technically runs out…due to all the stains. Cleaning your carpets annually (professionally) will definitely improve their appearance and help prolong their life. But, this is an additional expense you don’t have with hardwood floors.
If you are planning to sell your Warner Robins home, uncovering those hardwood floors will give you a distinct advantage in selling your home and capturing the maximum selling price. So, think twice before recarpeting…hardwood will cost less and improve you house’s value.

There is something very nice about freshly refinished hardwood floors. Even the laminate products on the market today are overtaking homes with carpet. Many homeowners prefer the ease of upkeep like you mentioned. Great tips here, thank you!
Glad to provide them Rich. Thanks for the nice comments.
That is pretty surprising to have hardwood floors that lasted since the 1800’s. That is not something you usually find in Seattle homes!
Take care of your floors and they will last a considerably long time…thanks for stopping by S.H.
